MY ONLY HOPE

Image
SCRIPTURAL READING : Psalm 119:113-117 TEXT : "You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word" (Psalm 119:114) COMMENTARY It is clear now that official security is not enough for the requirements of humanity. High-ranking officials who are surrounded by skilled security guards are not exempt. Death is just one of many vices that have taken individuals worldwide, regardless of their wealth, political connections, or economic clout. conflict, rumors of conflict, fraud, and terrorist assaults have made the so-called security agents always vulnerable. Reports of new epidemics and natural disasters that defy medical science are common. Where is our hope, beloved, when we hear about disaster wherever we look? Jesus, the hope of the hopeless and a light in every dark path, is the sole sure hope of man that never fails. Regardless of all of this, your situation is different when you are with God. Therefore, since Christ Jesus gives you hope, cease feeling depressed and th...

THE NEED OF THE HOUR

Image
SCRIPTURAL READING : JAMES 5:7-12 TEXT : "Be patient, therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord, Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it. You also be patient, establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand". (James 5:7-8). COMMENTARY In today's passage, patience is used to describe long-suffering, brave endurance under adversity, and the reluctance to yield under pressure. The virtue of patience is the ability to refrain from rushing into relationships. The patience we are discussing is not the same as stoicism, apathy, or indifference. Today, a believer is supposed to be patient no matter what happens in the world. Our patience will be richly rewarded, so let's not let it run out. We are supposed to wait for our Savior, who will bring a basket of blessings for His people, much like a farmer waits for the harvest season after sowing. Those who are patient will outlive all of the problems of this life an...

WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY

Image
SCRIPTURAL READING : PSALM 118:17-24 TEXT : "This is the day, the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." (2.24). COMMENTARY Each day the Lord has made is magnificent. It displays the experience. "Then when the evening cometh, we will kneel again to pray, and thank Thee for the blessings bestowed throughout the day" (The Children Hymn Book, 1881), which is understandable given the song's origin. After the day's events, it is imperative that we give thanks to the Lord. Some people left the house and never returned. The Lord deserves the gratitude of the one who survived. The Lord has taken care of our going out and coming in, as well as our daily requirements.. Some days are full of favors from both God and people (wonderful surprises of God's package) when it was least expected. Before you go to sleep, beloved, give thanks to God for the blessings and victories you have received today. He will do more tomorrow. Why don't we get together to ...

THE VICTORIOUS WAY

Scriptural Reading : Colossians 3:1-16 Text : "Set your minds on things above        (Col 3:1) COMMENTARY I answered, "My time before the Lord in the morning begins the night before," in response to someone discussing my time with the Lord. I have made the decision that I will not allow the national network news to be the final thought I have before turning in for the night. You may think about what you went to sleep with throughout the night and wake up with thoughts about it. The night before starts the morning time spent alone with God. I protect my thoughts because of this. "Set your mind on things above" is what the Bible teaches. Col. 3:3. This is one surefire method of protecting our hearts against the enemy's flaming arrows. If we want to live a successful Christian life, we must not take this matter lightly. Our innermost thoughts might drag us down and prevent us from waking up with the proper mindset. Although it is difficult, maintaining the pr...

ALL THAT YOU NEED

Image
Scriptural Reading : PSALM 119:105-112 Text : "Open my eyes that i may see wonderful things in your law. (Psa 119:18). COMMENTARY The Nazis were committed to eradicating Warsaw, Poland, from the face of the earth during World War II. They attacked the city frequently for six years, killing thousands of civilians. Thousands more fled to labor camps as refugees. The Poles returned to the ruined city after the Nazis were overthrown in 1945. They meticulously and tenderly rebuilt the city's center, stone by stone, with their bare hands with the guidance of some ancient photos. You may easily travel back 700 years when you stand in the middle of this restored area today. Following the war, Polish conservators were consulted whenever Germany needed assistance restoring a historic town or building. Has everything in your life fallen apart? You should not be concerned. In order to mend shattered lives, Jesus Christ came to earth and died. The scriptures contain all you need; if you st...

TIMELESS TRUTH

Scriptural Reading : NUMBERS 23:17-21 Text : NUMBERS 23:19 "God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? COMMENTARY Your world is changing quickly. Some illnesses that we once believed to be treated with antibiotics are becoming resistant to them. In addition to many others, there is the terrible AIDS and Ebola. Nevertheless, some things will never change despite the changes we face on a daily basis in reality. God has never changed and never will. This implies that we can rely on God to support us as we confront and conquer any obstacles that may arise. God's word has not changed and never will, my dear. The power, healing, and sharpness of God's word are still greater than those of an old sword. Yes, and amen. On the other hand, salvation has not changed and never will. As a result, let us continue to cling to Jesus Christ, the Creator and Finalizer of our r...

THE KINGDOM STYLE

Image
Scriptural Reading : LUKE 22:24-27 Text : "The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many" (Matt. 20:28). COMMENTARY Because it is the pattern of life that God has approved for His children, Jesus Christ will always be a model for true Christians. Throughout His life and ministry on earth, Jesus lived as a servant, both in words and in deeds. However, we see a contradiction in the lives of many people who identify as Christians today: lords and masters in our churches and homes instead of servants. It would be amazing to envision a world, a church, or a family in which everyone serves others. At the same time, we must crucify the flesh if we are to become capable of continuously exhibiting the servant attitude. To be like our Master, we must first overcome the flesh, which is one of the Christian's worst foes. The greatest people in God's kingdom are those who serve, and the least are those who demand to be served. We...

IT'S LOVE, NOT HATRED

Image
Scriptural Reading : Hebrew 12:6-11 Text : "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent" (Rev. 3: 19.) COMMENTARY God corrects us because He loves us, not because He hates us, even though we are His children. Earthly parents today protect their kids from harsh testing. We see parents surrendering to the requests of their children for things which they know in their hearts are not best for them. But God is not like that, God, in love, in wisdom, in faithfulness, corrects and rebukes His children. We are aware that in order for gold to be pure and valuable, it must undergo a process that removes the dross. The same holds true for those of us who are God's children; He wants us to be pure and will stop at nothing to fulfill His goal for us. We need to understand that God chastises us out of love, not hatred, in His heart. Even though the process may be somewhat difficult, God desires the best for us. We ought to be thankful instead that we have a...

ALTAR OF PRAYER

Image
SCRIPTURAL READING : LUKE 18:1-8 TEXT : "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up. Left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed''. (Mark 1:35) NIV. COMMENTARY When we stop praying, we start to stray from God. Jesus prayed to start His earthly mission, and He taught His disciples to do the same. Having a location of prayer is a prerequisite for starting to pray. The apostles frequently went to a place of prayer. If they wish to advance in their Christian life, sincere converts and disciples of Christ need a space to pray. Who are we to disregard prayer if God incarnate Jesus paid attention to it? Today, the neglect of the area of prayer is the reason for our failings in our Christian life. We wish to experience daily wins over the powers of evil and all the pitfalls and dangers of this life, yet we have become too busy to pray. Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, set an example for us to follow. He was always successful because He ...

REMEMBER THE LOST

Image
SCRIPTURAL READING : ACTS 19:8-12 TEXT : "Warned everyone night and day with tears!" Acts 2:31. COMMENTARY The founder of the China Inland Mission, Young Taylor, claimed to have charged a man with a gangrenous foot while still a college student. He was responsible for dressing the man's foot each day. He soon discovered that his patient had not attended a church in forty years and was not a Christian. At his wife's funeral, he refused to enter the Church because he detested religion so much. Every time he went to see this man, young Taylor resolved to talk to him about his soul. The man forbade him from praying and cursed him. Hudson Taylor continued to show this man Christ. The man gave his life to Christ one day. As God's children, we should be more fervent than ever in sharing Christ with a dying world, just like Paul and Hudson Taylor were. Many people will die today while you read this devotional, but I'm more worried about people dying without salvation ...

I AM IMPORTANT

Image
Scriptural Reading : 1 CORINTHIANS 12:12-20 Text : But each one has his own gift from God one in this manner and another in that.. (1Cor. 7:7) COMMENTARY Everybody is unique in his life, so each individual has his own special talent stored in him/her. You therefore have something to offer and something to contribute for the good of others wherever you are. Only you have the ability to be yourself. We all have something positive to contribute to God's earth, which is why we are here. Only we are capable of carrying out the tasks that are intended for us in our families, communities, churches, organizations, and other settings. We learned from the scriptural reading that no bodily part is necessary. To properly perform its role, each of them is dependent upon the others. Therefore, you should never let others' remarks make you feel unimportant and discourage you from sitting at the bench. For the edification of the body of Christ, what has God given you? Christ will give you rest...

STRENGTH THROUGH MEEKNESS

Image
SCRIPTURAL READING : LUKE 6:27-38.    TEXT : "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth".(Math 5:5) COMMENTARY Weakness is not being meek. Meekness is God-given power and understanding. Although Jesus was humble and meek, He was not a weakling. When He forced the money changers out of the temple, He demonstrated His might. The entire world and all of its sins were taken on by Him. He did not open his mouth as the lamb led the way to the slaughter. He did not revile when he did. Which strength? He was obedient till he died. Which Power? As a result, God greatly exalted Him and gave Him a name that was superior to all others. Meekness is the cause of this. As good stewards of God's abundant grace, we give away our gifts to those in need. The meek have the mind of Christ. They are not losers because God promises them the earth as their inheritance. He enriches them with grace and every blessing. Prayer Points : 1. Jesus, my Lord, give me the strength that goes w...

FROM MOURNING TO JOY

Image
SCRIPTURAL READING : MARK 2:13-22 TEXT : "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." (Matt. 5:4). COMMENTARY There are a lot of tears shed in this valley of sorrows, and the world is full of weepers. The speaker states that "everything has its season and time, and there is a time for every matter under heaven, a time to laugh, a time to weep" (Eccl. 3:1, 4). Remembering that crying comes before laughter is a wonderful idea. "April showers bring May flowers" is a proverb. "All sunshine makes a desert," once more For those who lament their misdeeds, Jesus has a wise thing to say. He refers to them as blessed. Indeed, people who repent and who understand the nature of sin and its consequences and who feel sorrow over it are rewarded. Sin is the violation of God's rule, which kills, destroys, and even distances us from God. It is impossible for a Christian to enjoy sin. He or she thinks about what it did to Jesus Christ on the cro...

PERSECUTED BUT ADVANTAGED

Image
Biblical Reading : John 15:20-25 Text : "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." (Matt. 5:10). COMMENTARY : To suffer for being faithful and true to Jesus Christ should prompt us to "be thankful unto Him and bless His name". To be persecuted for righteousness' sake is to walk the road of saints, as the hymn declares, "Brother, we are treading where the saints have trod." In Smyrna the mob dragged Polycarp, the aged bishop, before the judge. The judge demanded, "Bow before Caesar as your god or die". Polycarp had "a faith that will not shrink though pressed by many a foe." He has done me no wrong. How can I blaspheme my king who saved me? Stephen, the martyr, made a lasting impression on his persecutors. "Gazing at him all who sat in the council saw that his face was like the face of an angel" (Acts 6:15, emphasis added). Would Stephen's prayers ever be for...

A PERSON OF WISDOM

Image
Bible Reading : Matthew 7:21-27 Text : "Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book." (Rev. 22:7). COMMENTARY Jesus said, "Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does them will be like a wise man who builds his house upon the rock; and rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock." In the Book of Revelation, the exalted Savior addressed St. John and said much the same thing:: "Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book." Man requires a solid basis in his spiritual life to endure all conditions, particularly when he is tested and tempted. Christ, His message, and His atoning work form that basis. "No other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 3:11). He is the main pillar that God established in Zion. Those who hear the good news of sa...

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

Image
Bible Reading : PSALM 9:1-3 Text : "I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart, I will tell of all your wonders." (v.1). COMMENTARY When last did you take stock of God's blessings upon your Is it possible for you to count all? I don't think it is easy life? Is it for you to remember all, but if you can take stock of those ones you can remember including being alive in the land of the living, you will surely say, the Lord has been gracious to me. Before you sleep tonight, start thanking God for your life, protection, provision, good health, accommodation, journey mercies, etc. they may look so simple and normal to you, but do not forget that the same road you ply frequently has ended people's lives even on days you passed through it unhurt? Also remember that the same sickness which you were healed of has killed so many who may have even spent more on treatment than you. Beloved we have every reason to thank God. Prayer Points : 1. Father, thank you for everyth...

ENTRUST YOUR CARE TO GOD

Image
Bible Reading : PSALM 55:16-22 Text : "Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you. He will never let the righteous fail." (vs. 22). COMMENTARY What causes people to stay up all night? because they are burdening themselves with their problems. Burdens can be so heavy that even the strongest man in the world cannot carry it without stumbling and falling. "Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest" is a statement that makes sense. He said, "take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls" in Matthew 11:28 and Matthew 29. 16 The simplest method to get a good night's sleep is to put our anxieties on God and rely on Him for our sustenance. We cannot get through that phase of life without His grace. Prayer Points : 1.O God! assist me in casting my troubles and worries upon you. 2. In the name of Jesus, let every anxiety seed the enemy has sown in my ...

NO PARKING SPACE

Image
Bible Reading : 1 Peter 5:1-8 Text : "Be sober; be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." I Peter 5:8 COMMENTARY : We are supposed to remain sober and watchful because Satan is constantly wandering about trying to find where he can The phrase "No parking, keep moving" is frequently found in locations that contain valuables, such as central banks and financial institutions. They might be worried that someone will park and take these valuables from them. It is crucial to remember, nevertheless, that your life is more valuable and significant than a central bank. Therefore, "No parking space for Satan" should be your catchphrase this month. Any life or location where Satan is permitted to park is in danger. There will always be a crisis in whatever family he permits to park. According to our reading, we should be sober and watchful, as Satan is constantly searching for places to steal, murder, ...

LONG FOR SPIRITUAL ENCOUNTER

Image
Bible Reading : Genesis. 28:10-17 Text : "He was afraid and said, how awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, this is the gate of heaven." (vS. 17). COMMENTARY Men and women have experienced God at different times of the day throughout history. Additionally, they have encountered God in various settings. Others believe that God may be felt anywhere, even in the bedroom, while others believe that He can only be felt in the church. Jacob had no idea that the location of his overnight rest would be the site of his encounter with God. He was shocked and cried out that the location was amazing and that God was undoubtedly present when God met him there. Are you aware that your bedroom could be a fantastic location for a meeting with the Lord?  Avoid using your it as a location for immorality, adultery, fornication or other vices. If you want to encounter Him tonight and turn your bedroom into your Bethel, He will fulfill your deepest wish. Prayer Points : ...

THE GOD OF COVENANT

Image
Bible Reading : Exodus 2:23-25 Text : "He remembers his covenant forever, the word He commended, for a thousand generation" (Ps. 105:8). NIV COMMENTARY : The Israelites spent 430 years in Egypt. The earlier part of this period was spent in joy; when the Pharaohs that knew Joseph were on the throne. But the later part was in agony; when the Pharaoh that knew not Joseph reigned, their suffering was so unbearable that they cried unto God, and the Bible says; "God heard their groaning and remembered and remembered his covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Exo. 2:24, 25). God heard their groaning but what moved him was the covenant. Listen! Your name, tears, knowledge, experience or wealth may not move God but covenant does. You can maintain your covenant with God by walking blamelessly and constantly putting Him in remembrance of the covenant which is the scripture.. As you are about to sleep tonight, I prophesy to you that this year's covenant is moving God for your...

SUPPORT THE UNDERPRIVILEGED

Image
Bible Reading : JAMES 2:1-7 Text : "Blessed is he who considers the poor". (Psalm 41:1) COMMENTARY God wants us to consider the poor; to give them our loving care and attention. If the poor need food, clothing and shelter, Christians are urged to share what they have with them. St. Paul charged each one to do honest work, not only for his own support but also "That he may help the needy". Christ was impoverished from birth. "He had nowhere to lay His head," he said. He voluntarily fell into poverty, as stated by St. Paul, "That by His poverty we might become rich". He enriched us with; "every spiritual blessing in Heavenly places". For "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace". (Eph. 1:7) "Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me." (Matt. 25:40). Do not forget the needy. Prayer...

MUCH TO SEE

Image
Bible Reading : Matthew 9:27-31 Text : "And in the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: "Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, and seeing you will see and not perceive." (Matt. 13:14). COMMENTARY We all suffer from self-inflicted blindness, meaning that we listen to others but fail to truly hear what they have to say. This insensitivity will undoubtedly negatively impact our life's journey. The Lord Jesus once asked two blind men, "Do you believe that I can make you see?" They replied, "Yes, Lord, we do believe." Believing is seeing—much more than our physical eyes can possibly see. As we continue in life, may the gift of Christ, who gave His life for us, be ours. We will see and perceive the signals of God's love and greatness, so may we be able to notice the needs of others, hear what they have to say, and be driven to help, just like our Master Jesus Christ, with God who gave us the vision of faith. Prayer Points : 1, Lord...

REJOICING WHILE SOWING

Image
Bible Reading : 2 CORINTHIANS 9:5-7 Text : "Blessed are you who sow beside all waters, who send out S freely the feet of the ox and the donkey". (Isa. 32:20). COMMENTARY God has indeed bestowed His blessings on His people, opening His hand to provide for their physical and spiritual needs. Lavishly, He has granted rain, sun shine, health, and strength. The book of Isaiah uses concrete language to describe the prosperity and peaceful life of the New Testament church under the leadership of the Messiah. The Israelites will "sow beside all waters," that is, in fertile valleys, where a good harvest is assured. The abundance will be so great that their domesticated animals will be released from hard work to roam freely and eat their fill. The phrase "clothing and shoes, meat and drink, house and home, wife, husband and children, field and cattle and all my goods" is also attributed to Martin Luther. His spiritual gifts are his greatest assets. He grants us heav...

WHEN WE ARE EXHAUSTED

Image
Bible Reading : Galatians 6:7-9 Text : "Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, sat thus the well. It was about the sixth hour." (John 4:6). COMMENTARY Everyone goes through periods of fatigue. Nobody can continue forever without growing tired. There are several types of fatigue. Heart, mind, and soul are all tired, but what about physical exhaustion? We can grow weary of too many positive things. However, simply attempting to survive leads us to pursue immoral goals that lack true, enduring meaning. Jesus, our Lord, understood what fatigue was. There was no doubt that more than just His feet hurt when He sat down by Jacob's well. He was exhausted after a lot of physical activity. Jesus' foot weakness on this particular occasion was merely a preview of the massive weakness that ultimately led to His fall while carrying the cross to Calvary on our behalf. "I will give you rest" is a promise He made. This promise is for...

ADDRESSING SELF IMPORTANCE

Image
Bible Reading : 1 Peter 5:5-6  Text : "Humble yourself therefore under God's mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time". (v.6).  COMMENTARY   Self-importance is a sin that is innate to human nature. God hates the arrogant for this reason. Without a doubt, pride sprang from the devil and was passed down to humans from Adam. One becomes wise in his own eyes when he is proud. In addition to making one not seek advice, it makes the individual believe that he is flawless and the best at everything.  He never finds anything admirable in the actions or words of others. He gets deeply offended by seemingly insignificant things because he believes that his integrity has been compromised or that someone has disrespected him. He has no idea that "a man of lowly spirit gains honor, but a man of pride brings him low." (Prov. 29:. (Prov. 29: 23).  Why not submit to God's strong hand and humble yourself so that He can raise you when the time is right?  Prayer Point...
