FROM MOURNING TO JOY
SCRIPTURAL READING: MARK 2:13-22
TEXT: "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." (Matt. 5:4).
COMMENTARY
There are a lot of tears shed in this valley of sorrows, and the world is full of weepers. The speaker states that "everything has its season and time, and there is a time for every matter under heaven, a time to laugh, a time to weep" (Eccl. 3:1, 4). Remembering that crying comes before laughter is a wonderful idea. "April showers bring May flowers" is a proverb. "All sunshine makes a desert," once more
For those who lament their misdeeds, Jesus has a wise thing to say. He refers to them as blessed. Indeed, people who repent and who understand the nature of sin and its consequences and who feel sorrow over it are rewarded. Sin is the violation of God's rule, which kills, destroys, and even distances us from God.
It is impossible for a Christian to enjoy sin. He or she thinks about what it did to Jesus Christ on the cross in addition to what it does to him. Our heavenly father lost His one and only beloved Son to sin. Sin can negatively impact your life as well. Watch out!
When you confess your sins to God tonight, you may be confident that He will forgive you justly and faithfully, which will make your life eternally happier.
Prayer Points:
1. In the name of Jesus, I confess my sins and turn from them. Amen.
2. May I share in Christ Jesus' joy of repentance.
3. In the name of Jesus, please transform all of my struggles into victories and give me immense serenity. Amen.
