SUPPORT THE UNDERPRIVILEGED
Bible Reading: JAMES 2:1-7
Text: "Blessed is he who considers the poor". (Psalm 41:1)
COMMENTARY
God wants us to consider the poor; to give them our loving care and attention. If the poor need food, clothing and shelter, Christians are urged to share what they have with them. St. Paul charged each one to do honest work, not only for his own support but also "That he may help the needy".
Christ was impoverished from birth. "He had nowhere to lay His head," he said. He voluntarily fell into poverty, as stated by St. Paul, "That by His poverty we might become rich". He enriched us with; "every spiritual blessing in Heavenly places". For "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace". (Eph. 1:7)
"Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me." (Matt. 25:40). Do not forget the needy.
Prayer Points:
1. I repent from the sins of favoritism in Jesus name.
2. Lord, even as I give to the poor, may you consider me.
3. Bless me Oh Lord and make me a blessing in Jesus name.
Sleeping Capsule
Even the destitute have something to contribute; no one is completely impoverished.
