LAYING UP TREASURES IN HEAVEN


Bible Reading: Phil 4:14-20

Text: Philippians 4:19 "And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus"


COMMENTARY

Spiritual things are reflected in natural things. Both spiritual and natural accounts exist. All of God's children automatically maintain an account with him. Although the account is opened as soon as you dedicate your life to Christ Jesus and He accepts you, it is man's obligation to manage the account. 

Examine Matthew 6:19–20 in comparison. "but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal". An empty account with God in heaven can coexist with a filled account on earth. Withdrawals are determined by deposits.

GIVE GENEROUSLY

Bible Reading : 11 Corinthians 9:6-12 Text : 2 Corinthians 9:6 "But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully".(NKJV) COMMENTARY Simply put, sparingly implies giving very little compared to what you already have. Giving must be done sacrificially to produce results. That is a generous donation. Giving that doesn't affect you isn't a plentiful seed; a bountiful seed hurts the giver but moves God.
