BIBLE READING: 1 Samuel 1-11
TEXT: "Then she made a vow and said, "O LORD of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but Will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head.''(1 Samuel 1:11 NKJV)
COMMENTARY
Beloved, taking an extraordinary step this month can open the door to your fruitfulness—but it must come from a place of sincerity, not manipulation.
Hannah, in the depth of her prayer, made a solemn vow to God. She promised that if He granted her a son, she would dedicate the child back to Him. Traditionally, Levites served from the age of 25 to 50 (Numbers 4:3; 8:24-26), yet Hannah went beyond this custom, committing her son to a lifetime of service. When she declared, "No razor shall come upon his head," she was referencing the Nazirite vow (Numbers 6:2-6). Typically, this vow was taken for a limited time—weeks or months—requiring complete abstinence from wine, avoidance of cutting the hair, and refraining from contact with the dead. But Hannah’s promise was different—she devoted her son as a Nazirite for life.
Beloved, as you prepare to rest tonight, reflect on this: In what area of your life do you seek fruitfulness? What extra steps have you taken in faith?
Strengthen your trust in God, for He alone is the true giver of blessings. Take a step forward in faithfulness, prayer, and unwavering confidence in Christ Jesus.
