I SURRENDER TO YOUR WILL

Bible Reading: Matthew 26:36-45

Text:"... O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as l will, but as You will. " (vs. 39 NKJV)

COMMENTARY

Prayer is one of the essential disciplines of a godly life, yet many believers struggle to fully grasp its depth. At its core, prayer is a conversation with God—a sacred interaction between a loving Father and His beloved children. It is not meant to be a fearful or intimidating experience. Jesus Himself taught His disciples to address God as "Father," just as He did (Luke 11:2).

True prayer requires both honesty and faith—honesty with ourselves and sincerity before God. As Christ approached the final moments of His earthly journey, He prayed in Gethsemane with deep emotion: "If it be possible, may this cup be taken from me." He understood that this request was not aligned with God’s eternal plan, yet He did not hold back His feelings. However, His honesty did not lead to rebellion. Even in anguish, He surrendered to the Father’s will, saying, "Not as I will, but Your will be done." This powerful moment teaches us that God's will must always take precedence over our personal desires.

We, too, must be willing to surrender our own will and trust in God's perfect plan. When we come before Him with a heart of genuine honesty and submission, we may not always see our circumstances change—but we can be certain that He will transform us through the experience.

Rest well, and may His peace be with you. Goodnight.
