GOD'S GIFT TO US
Bible Reading: Psalm 106:1-12
Text: "Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. "(Romans 6:6-7 NKJV)
COMMENTARY:
From the beginning, God never intended His people to remain in bondage.
In Scripture, we see how God’s people suffered under Egyptian oppression until He, in His power and mercy, delivered them. Not only did He set them free, but He also led them through the wilderness toward the Promised Land.
However, the greatest slavery one can experience is bondage to sin.
When we reflect on Israel’s exodus from Egypt, we find hope in the extraordinary lengths God goes to in order to free His people. His ultimate act of deliverance came through Jesus Christ, our Redeemer.
At the appointed time, God provided salvation for all mankind (Romans 6:1-23, Revelation 1:4-6). Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, history was forever changed, offering humanity the gift of true freedom.
Jesus loves us so much that He made the ultimate sacrifice, laying down His life so that we could stand blameless before God. Now, as His children, we have full access to the throne of grace—not as slaves but as freed sons and daughters.
All that is required of us is to:
Believe the truth about Jesus.
Stake our lives on Him.
Accept His gift of salvation.
Before you sleep tonight, ask yourself:
"Have I accepted His gift of freedom?"
Make sure you settle this matter in your heart before the night is over.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. O! Lord, set me free from every captivity and bondage of sin and guilt
2. Dear Lord, help me to accept the gift of salvation in Christ Jesus and walk in His ways. Amen
3. Consecrate me Lord, from anything that would defile me to separate me
