Recognize the Escape Route

Sub-Topic: God's Provision during Temptation.

Biblical Text: 1 Corinthians 10:13.

Commentary:

1 Corinthians 10:13 provides a message of hope and strength. While we will encounter temptation, the Bible tells us that God is trustworthy and will not let us be overwhelmed. The secret is found in the second portion of the verse: "But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."

While this passage does not promise a life devoid of temptation, it does ensure God's fidelity. He will always provide an "escape route," a method to avoid temptation and solve a hurdle. This escape route may take many forms, including the fortitude to walk away from a situation, the knowledge to make the proper choice, and the guts to seek assistance from others.

It's crucial to remember that God's "escape route" may not always be visible. Sometimes we have to actively seek it out by praying, studying scripture, or connecting with a trustworthy friend or mentor.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to avoid temptation. Help me choose Your path above my own wishes.

Work Action: Consider a circumstance in which you have previously encountered temptation. Consider what may have been your "escape route" in such a situation.

Scriptural Reference: Hebrews 4:16 states, "Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."
