Our prayers may not align with God's will
Sub-Topic: Seeking God's Will.
Biblical Text: Psalm 37:4.
Commentary:
Psalm 37:4 has a magnificent promise: God will grant us our heart's desires, but with one condition: we must first delight in Him. This suggests inner conformity with God's will. Sometimes our prayers are not answered because they do not correspond with God's ultimate purpose for our life.
Our preferences are often influenced by narrow perceptions. We may ask for something that seems nice on the surface, but God sees the overall picture. He understands what is genuinely best for us, even if it does not align with our first preferences.
This does not imply we should give up on our prayers. However, it requires us to sacrifice our wants to God's will. As we delight in Him, seeking His direction and connecting our hearts with His, He molds our desires and directs us toward His perfect will.
Prayer: Lord, assist me to submit my wants to Your will. Guide me to prioritize what pleases You above everything else.
Work Action: Spend some time in prayer, not only for your personal wants, but also to discover God's plan for your life. Read a text on God's character and jot down one quality of God that you desire to develop in yourself.
Scriptural Reference: Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
