No temptation is beyond our strength.

Sub-Topic: Understanding Temptation.

Biblical Text: 1 Corinthians 10:13.

Commentary:

1 Corinthians 10:13 provides a consoling truth: we are not alone in our difficulties with temptation. The passage admonishes us that "no temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind." Temptation affects everyone, regardless of background or beliefs.

Temptation does not originate from God. James 1:13 clarifies: "Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone." Temptation is sometimes caused by our own wants or the influence of the world around us.

It is thus prudent to keep your eyes set on God, actively seek His power, and use the spiritual instruments He supplies. With faith, persistence, and God's grace, we may resist temptation and enjoy the pleasure of living a life that glorifies Him.

Prayer: Oh Lord!!!, please help me identify the sources of temptation in my life.

Work Action: Reflect on a recent temptation you encountered. Where did the temptation come from (is it your own wants, external pressure)?

Scriptural Reference: James 1:13-15 "Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is lured away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death."
