God's Timing Versus Our Timing



Sub-Topic: The Wait and Why.

Biblical Text: Psalm 37:7.

Commentary:
Psalm 37:7 addresses the conflict between our wants and God's timetable. We often pray for instant responses, our hearts longing for a certain result. 
However, the psalmist exorts us to "be still before the Lord" and "wait patiently for him." This waiting is not passive inactivity, but rather a posture of confidence that acknowledges God's sovereign authority over time.
 Imagine you're waiting for a great dish to prepare. You eagerly watch the clock, hoping that the minutes would pass quickly. However, opening the oven before the dish is finished simply complicates the process. Similarly, God's timetable may not coincide with our aspirations. He has a greater vision in mind, and His timing is impeccable, even if it seems excruciatingly sluggish from our viewpoint.
The waiting phase, although difficult, may be a time for development and refinement. As we trust in God's timetable, He molds our desires to line with His will. The wait also increases our faith by teaching us patience and reliance on Him.

Prayer: Lord, give me the grace to believe in Your time, even when it seems like I've been waiting forever. Please help me see the benefit in the waiting process.
Work Action: Consider a circumstance in which you are presently waiting for a response to prayer. Write down one scripture that reminds you of God's perfect timing, and commit to thinking about it all day.

GIVE GENEROUSLY
