The Lord is with you
Sub-Topic: The Lord is always with you
Scripture: Judges 6:11-21
Commentary:
God sent His angel to a man who was in pains for his oppressed people. That man, Gideon, focused on the impact of their calamity not its cause, for it was his people's neglect of God rather than God's indifference that brought the hardship. We need to accept responsibility for our misdeeds and not to shift blames on God or others.
Gideon, who saw no special merit in himself, was chosen to deliver Israel. Despite our shortcomings, when God gives us an assignment, He includes a complete package for its success. Like Gideon, we must be obedient and willing to remove from our lives and surroundings, anything that will fully prevent us from fully serving our Lord. This is not often easy to do.
In our society today, a few powerful people continue to oppress the populace. God is looking for those who agonize in prayer for their nation and oppressed; (See Psalm 94:16-17). When you stand to defend the course of the oppressed, the Lord will be with you.
Prayer: Lord, grant me courage to stand for justice and defend the down trodden.
Work Activity: Reflect on your daily routines and actions; there may be hidden or unconscious ways you might have put one down. A small act of kindness or focused effort could serve both God and others.
Scripture Reference: Psalm 94:16-17"Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity? Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul would soon have settled in silence"
