The Absence and the Ache
Sub-Topic: Facing the Rawness of Loss
Biblical Text: John 20:24-25 (Read the text)
Commentary:
Picture the disciples, gathering in a profound stillness following Jesus' departure, each struggling with loss in their own way - astonishment, rage, or tears. Thomas, absent when they learned of Jesus' resurrection, presumably grappled with despair or unbelief. Loss is universal; recollect a time of grief - the loss of a loved one, a broken relationship, shattered hopes. Yet, in despair, God's love gives peace and hope, a constant presence among turmoil.
Prayer: Lord, at times of overwhelming loss, give us the strength to mourn and the hope to find peace in your presence. Help us comprehend that even in the deepest valleys, your love is a continual source of consolation.
Work Activity: Find a quiet area and allow yourself to feel the emotions linked with a loss you've encountered. Write down a few words or phrases that express those sentiments.
Scriptural Reference: Lamentations 3:31-32 "Yet the Lord is not vengeful forever. Though he delivers suffering, he will offer compassion, due to the richness of his love."

It took away every fibre of our confidence, but time got it all settled.
