Storm Before Stillness

Subtopic: Knowing When to Hear from God (1 Kings 19:1-12)

Commentary:

Elijah, the prophet who defeated kingdoms with divine fire, fled in fear from Queen Jezebel and prayed for death. Feeling far from God and overwhelmed by life's storms is natural. Elijah's once powerful voice became a whisper of despair, mirroring deep abandonment and crushed faith. His story reminds us we're not alone in our struggles and that God's presence remains, even in darkness. In solitude, we can find solace and hear God's gentle voice offering guidance and comfort.

Prayer: Lord, pardon us for the times we shut off your voice. Help us identify when we need your direction and comfort most severely.

Work Activity: Journal about a moment you felt far from God.

Scripture Reference: Psalm 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."
